Cosmodrome Vostochny
The Vostochny cosmodrome is one of the most ambitious and large-scale projects in the history of modern Russia, the newest space harbor, the youngest cosmodrome in the world, the best specialists of the country worked on its implementation.
What is a cosmodrome?
During the broadcasts of missile launches, we are shown the most interesting part - the launch pad with a rocket ready to fly. In fact, this is only a small part of the cosmodrome. A large universal cosmodrome usually consists of several launch sites, because each type of rocket has its own launch. You cannot launch rockets of different classes from the same launch pad.
What makes it unique?
At present, Soyuz-2 carrier rockets are being launched from the Vostochny cosmodrome. The launch complex, equipped with a unique mobile maintenance tower, similar to which you won’t find at other Russian cosmodromes - neither at Baikonur, nor at Plesetsk, was put into operation in 2016. The 1600-ton structure with a height of 52 meters allows all work to be carried out to prepare for the launch in the most difficult climatic conditions, while ensuring a high level of worker safety.
Work on the construction of the site for the new powerful Angara launch vehicle is in full swing. "Angara" is capable of launching into orbit a payload weighing up to 37.5 tons (for comparison, the payload mass of a Soyuz-2 rocket is not more than 7.4 tons).
The value of Vostochny
Vostochny guarantees Russia's independent access to outer space. The cosmodrome will become the center of a newly developed infrastructure, opening up new opportunities for development. Cities equipped with the latest technology will grow among the centuries-old Russian Far Eastern forests.
Vostochny is our future. This is the gate to deep space!
In addition to the fact that Vostochny is a launch pad, it is also a huge control communications center, equipped with the most modern equipment for spacecraft flight control. The Vostochny command and measurement station allows to control the spacecraft of the Russian orbital group, the Russian segment of the ISS, and spacecraft.
Cosmograd Tsiolkovsky
For specialists working at the cosmodrome, a residential complex was built, named after the founder of theoretical cosmonautics Konstantin Tsiolkovsky. The residential complex is designed as a complex architectural composition with clearly defined residential quarters and developed infrastructure. Cosmograd is constantly growing and developing, and warmly welcomes astronautics lovers.
The main information about Vostochny:

Tour programm 4 days (3 nights)
Preliminary program of the tour to the Vostochny cosmodrome 4 days / 3 nights
Day 1
- Arrival at the airport of Blagoveshchensk, transfer to Tsiolkovsky - about 190 km
- Check-in at the hotel in Tsiolkovsky
- Acquaintance with the guide, general information about the program, briefing on safety precautions and rules for staying on the territory of the cosmodrome
- Free time, rest
Day 2
- Breakfast at the hotel
- Transfer to the observation point
- Observing the launch of a spacecraft from the closest possible state
- Excursion to the technical territory of the Vostochny cosmodrome
- Visit to the technical complex of the Vostochny cosmodrome
The unified technical complex is designed for preparation before the start - including refueling. For the first time in the history of Russian cosmonautics, the developers of the Technical Complex have combined into one complex:
- Block warehouse
- Assembly and test hulls of the launch vehicle and spacecraft
- Transfer Gallery
- Filling and neutralization station
Such a technical solution reduces risks during the transportation of products and significantly saves time for work. The total area of the building is almost 45 thousand square meters. Height - 37 meters. When designing it, the latest developments of Russian designers were used. The workplaces here are automated as much as possible, 138 modern systems of technological equipment have been installed.
- Return to hotel, free time, rest
Day 3
- Breakfast at the hotel
- Transfer to the cosmodrome

This launch site has 83 structures with an area of 45,000 square meters, all of which are ground-based and are located in the immediate vicinity of the launch pad. Only on Vostochny is a stationary filling system and an automated process equipment control system used. To ensure pre-launch and launch operations, more than 10 different structures were built: a launch facility, a unique mobile service tower, a command post - the "brain" of the cosmodrome, technological blocks for storage and delivery of propellant components, etc. 52 systems of technological equipment are serviced by specialists.
